| The following stages are
carried out each time a software development project is undertaken
by Alpha. In certain cases, the customer, particularly in the
system specification stages may carry out some of the steps
where a specification has already been prepared. If this is
not the case, Alpha provides all of the necessary analysis and
development required to complete the project from its inception
to final implementation, training, sign-off and on-going support.
1. Initial Meeting -
Outline Specification
The initial discussions with the customer
is essential in order to obtain sufficient detail for an outline
specification to be produced including for example detailing
at the highest level the major data storage and reporting
requirements.
What you receive
At the end of this stage, an Outline
Specification is supplied to
the customer with an initial estimate of the cost and timescale
for the development project. A
fixed price quotation is provided for the development of a
full Functional Specification.
2. Functional Specification Development
Upon the customer's acceptance of
the quotation for the development of a full Functional Specification,
the specification is produced, working closely with the Customer
at all stages.
What we deliver
At the end of this stage, a Functional Specification is supplied
to the customer with a cost and timescale for the development
project. This quotation is based upon the system as defined
within the Functional Specification.
3. System Development
Upon the customer's acceptance of
the quotation for the development stage of the system, the
system is developed. For large-scale projects, regular site
meetings are held to discuss and demonstrate the progress
of the development with the Customer.
What we deliver
At the end of the development stage,
the system will be ready for beta testing on your site.
4. Beta-Testing
Following the completion of the development
stage, the system will be implemented ready for beta testing
on the Customer's site. Sufficient resource must be provided
by the Customer for this to be done.
Any discrepancies found between the
Functional Specification and the developed system will be
corrected at this stage.
Whilst the product is being beta-tested,
the User Documentation will be produced.
What we deliver:
User Documentation.
5. User Training
On completion of the beta testing,
all users will be trained in the operation of the new system
to the level deemed appropriate for their needs as agreed
with you.
6. Implementation
Having completed the training of all of
the users, the system will become 'live' for all trained users.
A full handover is completed before we pass to the ongoing
support stage.
7. System Support
Having gone live, ongoing support is provided
to the Customer for the system, either by telephone or by
site visit, depending upon the requirements of the Customer
and agreements made between the Customer and Alpha.
Any modifications and upgrades to
the software are also undertaken, going through the relevant
stages as detailed above.
